comment from upstream:
"That completion plugin has not been updated to the latest api changes: it
should be modified to return duplicated strings instead of pointers to internal
memory. This is the cause of the memory corruption and the crash."
Closing the bug, the problem is on the plugin side.
It looks to me like an issue on the gtksourceview code, but let's
upstream to decide, I'll be sent this at:

When I run it with Valgrind (following the procedure you linked), it
works (!). So I opened Gedit, typed clutter_, got completion for
clutter_init(); then closed the program.
