Yes I believe it was fixed after poppler .12.4. I compiled .13.3 and
it worked fine. Interestingly though it was fixed on my Debian box
after 5.0.5 update (I guess they backported the fix) to the version of
poppler in Lenny (.8.7)

This issue is NOT fixed in the latest release of poppler available in
the repositories (I just updated it today---still the same problem)
But the good news is that Ben Bordwell was nice enough to make a PPA
with the package that does fix this issue.

Okay sorry that took me a while but I can not seem to install adobe
reader through software center on luicid yet, so I had to download the
.bin from adobes site. I got more text in adobe than evince so marking
as confirmed.
