I am experiencing this issue.
It happens just with msn contacts. I'm using Empathy 2.30.1 unstable.
After an update on 25th or 26th of May the contacts are shown as permanently
offline.
Butterfly error log attached.

No, they are not hidden. Just appear as offline when, in fact, they are
online.

I can confirm that I am also experiencing the issue, both on my 32bit PC
and on my netbook running NBR.
