This particular bug infuriates me. I am used to the x-screensaver
behavior. No matter how long it takes xscreensaver to come up with the
unlock dialog, it catches every single keystroke, including any mistakes
and backspaces, and continuations upto and including the enter key.
What is bad about xs
I switched back to xscreensaver because of this bug. Unlocking is always
an exercise in frustration. I used to be able to bang my password in and
not worry about things; it just worked. Now I have to hit a key...
wait... type in the password; or, I bang it in, wait... I get the wiggle
dance (cute,
On a related note, the focus is also lost when you get "Denied". So if
you mistype your password and start typing it in again, typically the
start of the password will be lost because the screensaver is doing
random "denied" gyrations (bug #44263) instead of paying attention to
the keyboard ... and

I would disagree, bug #55277 is about the password dialog not appearing
*at all*. I am just saying that it's very convenient to be able to just
start typing and not care how many milliseconds are required to page the
dialog in and display it.

Note that this bug appears to be at loggerheads with Bug #55277. The
desired behavior in this bug is the bug in the other one. Not sure what
is the expected behavior though.
