I have reassigned this issue to gnome-control-center instead of
fontconfig. BTW, Hinting Slight works fine for my display :) , any way,
please could you attach some screenshots for seeing comparations for
these options under your system? Thanks

It defaults to Slight Hinting which is really ugly. It should default
to Full Hinting instead. is a matter of personal opinion - I find that
full hinting looks ugly on all of my displays, so I'm not sure that's a
valid reason to request that the default be changed
