Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-session
It's an upgraded 10.04 from 9.10. Everything was fine until I ran gnome-session in terminal (I originally wanted to run gnome-session-save) and I got an error and then dozens of windows were generated in the task bar that I had to logout. I was able to input name and password and it seemed the system accepted them, but after two or three seconds I was brought to the login screen again. The issue is reproducible to all desktop types, KDE, gnome, and xterm. I can't remember if I ran 'gnome-session' in root privilege. There's no problem about the disk usage, all below 40%. I worked out a workaround to login to gnome desktop though, switch to console and then run following commands: sudo service gdm stop startx Thanks. ** Affects: gnome-session (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Login screen reloads itself repeatedly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/573340 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
