OK, I made a screen recording of what's happening using gtk-
recordmydesktop.
VERY ODD BEHAVIOR! When I actually perform the screenshot, I see no
selection box. Honest! When I watch the video, the selection box IS
VISIBLE. Why would this happen?

I tried this issue under a fresh installation of Karmic and works in
same way that Lucid, personally I was confused in first instance because
I usually use gnome-screenshot and sometimes shutter.

It works correctly for me as well, with desktop effects on or off. could

I tried to reproduce this with a second instance of gnome-screenshot but
this work around don't work for me (I have an Intel Graphic Card by the
way and I can confirm the main problem).

--interactive and "Select area to grab", a selection box is displayed.
