Gtk is not gnome. Yes, abiword-gnome pull more gnome libraries than
regular abiword. That's the main difference. But it is getting thinner
with more features integrated at Gtk level.

Stupid question, but is the only reason for having Abiword and Abiword-
Gnome so that KDE/Xfce/etc users can install Abiword without alot of
Gnome-related files? This has always confused me, partly because I
thought Abiword used gtk.

This can be closed - AbiWord-Gnome just uses some slightly different UI
pieces and is actually going away in the next upstream release - they
can use the same plugins. (If the description is correct, it should
only depend on AbiWord or AbiWord-gnome and librsvg)
