Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. A new version of Nautilus is available on Maverick and we
are wondering if this bug is still an issue for you with that version?
Could you please test and comment back? Thanks in advance.

My motherboard died. I now have a new machine with a fresh Lucid AMD64
install. The only way to test this would be to go through an install
-- upgrade process which would take far too much time. I'm sure it can
be done on a VM but for now, I won't be doing that.

does that works fine with a new user created on your system? that's
rather a broken user configuration than a bug. Did you tried to right
click on a folder and select open with nautilus ? does that solves the
issue?

It does work fine for a newly created user.
If the configuration is broken then it's something that has happened during the
upgrade process, it was fine before.
Right-clicking on shortcuts in Places does the same thing as left-clicking: it
tries to open the link (and fails).
I opened a nautilus
could you give details on the version you were using before the update?
is that specific to one user? do you get the issue in a guest session?

You received this
It does appear to be specific to one user.
I have to take the hideous route from Intrepid to Lucid (Intrepid --
Jaunty -- Karmic -- Lucid).
Trying to start a guest session doesn't do anything, it just locks the
screen.
