Seems upstream didn't really decided they would not do this since the
bug is still open, I'm not sure we care enough about gconf-editor which
is not a standard user software to do changes in the ui over GNOME this
way

thank you for your bug report, could you give the pointer to the
upstream discussion and why they don't want to do the change? usually we
try to not do something upstream refuses to do without having a strong
rational for the change
