Mmmh, that's strange... The versions of evince and lipoppler did not
change for me, however, evince is now able to open the mentioned files.
So, I'll close the bug again.

evince does not open eps files generated by gnupl
I can open both of the files attached to this bug, with and without
poppler-data installed, on Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" alpha 3 32bit
updated to the same package versions as in comment #6.
I get the following when I open the second file via the terminal:
$ evince plot_test.eps
(evince:687
Sry for the second post...
If I try to open the file via the terminal, I get the following messages:
$ evince plot_test.eps
invalidfont -10
invalidfont -10
invalidfont -10
** (evince:7004): WARNING **: Error rendering thumbnail
invalidfont -10
** (evince:7004): WARNING **: Error rendering thumb
I reopen this bug as there are still eps files that evince cannot open.
I attached such one which I generated with gnuplot. The attached eps
file in the first post cannot be opened by evince, too.
I'm using maverick (up-to-date) with 64bit.
evince: version 2.31.90-0ubuntu1
libpoppler5: version 0.

The original issue seems to be solved on 64 bit too and evince opens gnuplot
generated eps images now.
