Oh, to make that clear: This is indeed fixed with the HEAD version, but
the de.po file is supposed to be shipped by language-pack-gnome-de, and
so I don't understand why it was not shipped in the latest update.
Replacing the de.po file with the one from the xchat-gnome source
package makes the prob
It should be fixed in HEAD but not yet in the Ubuntu package.
Could you test HEAD version please?

Again, this has not been fixed with the latest update to
1:6.10+20061011, so I'm still wondering why this was not in this update?

This has not been fixed with the 1:6.10+20060924 release (which
according to the date should contain the fix), and now I wonder if that
is correct. But generating the .mo file from the de.po file downloaded
with apt-get source xchat-gnome works correctly.
So I guess that's just another lang-pack u
