It looks like you previously had another disc in the drive and ejected
it without unmounting it. Can you reproduce this after a clean reboot
without first inserting a non blank disc?

Yes, just to be sure, I rebooted, and tried this right away. Same
results.
Sorry, just realized that I needed to open this using ubuntu-bug
linux, which I didn't do. Closing opening another.
