Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

This problem occured within a day of performing a clean install of
Ubuntu 10.10.

1) Ubuntu Release 10.10
2) Nautilus version: 1:2.32.0-0ubuntu1.1

3) What expected to happen:

I was just moving a few folders around. I expected this to proceed as
usual.

There were a few things going on simultaneously. Nautilus had three tabs
open. Gedit was open in my second workspace area. I was doing some file
copying In my fourth workspace: 20Gb of files were being copied from an
external HD using NTFS, over USB to my local ext4 HD. The process was
occasionally being interrupted with filenames that were too long.

4) Nautilus in the first workspace froze. A folder was selected in its
frozen state. I cannot deselect the folder nor select another folder.
Neither can I select another tab or the Nautilus menu or toolbars.

Please note, however, that Nautilus did not report an Error. It just
froze.

Please note also that my 20Gb copy in Workspace 4 was not interrupted.
It carried on just fine.

I have reported this as a separate bug as well as adding it as a comment
at this similar "RESOLVED" bug #428564. I did this so that my Apport
data could be filed.
