you can fix it by making a symlink called 'win32' in /usr/lib/ pointing to
/usr/lib/codecs
Someone fucked up with an upgrade probably someone at medibuntu?

I have exactly the same problem. No changing video cards or drivers here.
Probably a botched update of the W32Codecs.
VERY annoying.
Totem commandline error:
wine/module: Win32 LoadLibrary failed to load: wmvdmod.dll,
