Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution
Evolution seems to have developed an affinity for Network Manager. Without Network Manager installed, I can usually send an email (via SMTP) immediately after startup. However, a few minutes later, pressing send/recieve, or composing a new email leads to messages that just sit in the outbox. I can use telnet to connect to the SMTP server Evolution is configured to use, so that isn't the issue. The status in the send/recieve dialog is "Waiting...". I did not have this issue with Edgy or Dapper. With Network Manager installed, -and- networking enabled, the issue goes away. If Networking is disabled in Network Manager, IMAP works, but SMTP does not. My uninformed guess would be that there is a check missing in the evolution code for SMTP, where is should be checking if Network Manager is running, but is rather assuming it is by default. ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- [feisty] Evolution inconsistant at sending SMTP mail w/o Network Manager installed https://launchpad.net/bugs/76873 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
