Problem solved. I just moved a directory where i store wallpapers, so
gnome-background-propertiesdidn't saw it and ran properly. Then i added
it manually again and everything is ok.

not gnome-background-properties. I just tried the image, which failed to
thumbnail, but did not crash the capplet, as well. Perhaps some clue as to how

Since I had more problems after some upgrades yesterday... I moved to
Edgy. Everything is fine concerning background properties. Have no more
the log files... Sorry.

The upgrade to edgy fixes the problem? The bug has probably been
squashed for the new version then, closing it. Feel free to reopen if
you get that bug again with edgy
