Check that last comment. Finger also works for me, but not when
specifying localhost. This matches the behavior of pinky and finger,
the underlying tools.

In Oneiric (11.10) everything works for me except finger. Can you test
again and confirm that? If so, I will modify this bug to reflect that
and mark it as confirmed.

this is not surprising to me same thing with net tools when i used
microsoft o.smy computer(s) have been forced on to a private network
where persons unknown set global policy as "authors" ..set
permissions..and control everything I do..on and off line...(computer
related)...THIS HAS COST ME A
not a bug it has been interfered with
