Public bug reported: Assume I have an email with four recipients, one of them invalid.
Evolution is configured to use SMTP to send email. Authentication is not required (LAN IP is sufficient on the SMTP server). Now, during the SMTP dialog (as evidenced from Postfix logs), one of the recipients gets rejected with a 550 code, the other 3 get accepted with a 250 code. BUG: Evolution - DOES NOT display a pop-up requested displaying the faulty address - DOES NOT display a hint in the status line displaying the faulty address - DOES SILENTLY LEAVE the message in the outbox, clogging the entire outbox. Expected behaviour: - Evolution should display the server transcript, in particular, the rejected e-mail address, so that the user has a hint as to the problem, and can do something about it. $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 10.10 Release: 10.10 $ apt-cache policy evolution evolution: Installiert: 2.30.3-1ubuntu7.3 Kandidat: 2.30.3-1ubuntu7.3 Versionstabelle: *** 2.30.3-1ubuntu7.3 0 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick-updates/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2.30.3-1ubuntu6 0 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: evolution 2.30.3-1ubuntu7.3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-30.56-generic-pae 2.6.35.13 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-30-generic-pae i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Architecture: i386 Date: Tue Aug 9 16:58:51 2011 EcryptfsInUse: Yes ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=de_DE:de:en_GB:en PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=de_DE.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: evolution ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Tags: apport-bug i386 maverick -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/823347 Title: Outbox mail stuck with SMTP errors not displayed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/823347/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
