I also have this problem.
In detail, I downloaded the hplip-3.13.6.run installer and followed the
installation instructions (that is, just execute sh hplip-3.13.6.run) but
after a while, maybe just at the end of the installation procedure, I got the
following message:

Sorry for having left that report, i've not seen that issue since ages
on i386 : none of Precise, Quantal or Raring complaint. So i suppose it
could be declared as invalid now.
