Public bug reported:

Fresh install of Ubuntu 11.10
gnome-bluetooth installed: 3.2.0-0ubuntu2
Dongle Belkin Components B8T017 Bluetooth+EDR 2.1 with Plantronics 2XX

What I expect:
1) Discover the bluetooth device.
2) Pair it (exchange passcodes).
3) Connect the headset and use it.

Instead:
1) Discover the bluetooth device. OK
2) Pair it. OK
3) Connection fails and the headset is not usable

tail -f /var/log/syslog returns:
Dec 2 20:28:06 xx bluetoothd[yyy]: Adapter /org/bluez/11729/hci0 has been
enabled
Dec 2 20:28:31 xx bluetoothd[yyy]: Permission denied (13)
Dec 2 20:28:31 xx bluetoothd[yyy]: Unable to get service record: Permission
denied (13)
Dec 2 20:28:33 xx bluetoothd[yyy]: Permission denied (13)
