closing the bug, the backtraces give some indication on the code
concerned but it's not clear on whether that's due to the application or
if the system was in a weird state, closing since it's not likely being
debugged without anybody running into the issue to get extra
informations and try changes
No easy steps to reproduce; it was a one-time bug for me. The only
reason I reported it was because I thought the stacktrace might be
useful. If it's not, I suppose this should be closed?

Did you get the issue again? Do you have easy steps to trigger it? That
doesn't really seem to be a gnome-panel issue, could be due to weird
state the computer was in and not really a bug
