or example I can't see the chat dialog widgets to be all that useful
to other applications as they should preferably message Empathy to
show a chat dialog for a specific user. The same with most of the
other widgets, roster widget and possibly vcard/info dialogs excluded.

My fault for using your mail to reply to even thou
o replace Tomboy.
3) Provide a migration path for users to move their notes.
4) Propose it to the community.
5) Hope that people agree that it should replace Tomboy.
Before your application exist there is no ground for discussing
whether it should replace Tomboy or not.

And my personal view (as a gossip developer) is that I don't think
Empathy is the way to do IM in GNOME, which is part of the reason for
the fork in the first place :)

Gossip code. If the Empathy developers really care to advance that
discussion I suggest they invite for the discussion with the Gossip
developers elsewhere. This is the same thing that was raised last time
we had this discussion, since then there have been no such attempts
that I am aware off
