If I may refer to my comment #85 - I had a look at the working and
nonworking log of modem-manager and pointed out the obvious
differences.
I strongly suspect that the newer version of MM is attempting to make use of
the diagnostic port, which can give status information (like signal strength)
Unfortuately, neither of first 2 methods works.
@Ted: Do you know what draws that menubar (probably that's not Gtk,
because gtk_widget_hide() is called on the menubar). Also, is it
possible to use DBusMenu's parse_menu_structure() to create a native
DBusMenu and then export it to the appmenu?

How can a bug that was reported almost 3 years ago and affects many people
reproducably still exist? Then again, GNOME developers probably consider it a

occurred. It doesn't matter if you upgrade AFTER the crash so I'm

I'm having the same issue in the Unity launcher. External hard drive
connected via USB. When I right-click the drive in the launcher and
then select 'safely remove', it spins down the drive for about 5

In my case (Gnome3 on Oneiric on Thinkpad T60 with Radeon X1400) this is a
collusion of two issues pointed out separately above:
(1) Gnome3's intended behavior is to disallow suspend while more than one
monitor is active (comment #8, comment #3, [1])
(2) upower returns a false positive when
