when an upgrade listed through update-manager i tried for it but cancelled
twice for want of time for downloading.

Unity webapps do not support notifications, which is claimed to be one
of their main purposes.
- When Gmail webapp is open, and a new email arrives in inbox, there is no
NotifyOSD event.
- Same thing for Facebook or Google+ (for messagees and chat messages).

The displayport output is physically connected to only the nvidia GPU on
this generation of lenovo machines with optimus, you'll have to switch
to the nvidia gpu in the bios to use it unfortunately.

It seems like we are missing the config file for this stick in
usb-modeswitch-data. Upstream has not added it either. See forum post:
