seen after today's apt-get upgrade on a previously-working 13.10 installation
on HP xw8400 Workstation.
I hadn't logged in for weeks, so not sure if the transition from
xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.8-0ubuntu3 to 1:1.0.9-2ubuntu1 was the
critical event.
Notable dmesg events are attached. in
1) 13.04
2) 1:3.8.2-0ubuntu1~ubuntu13.04.1
3) When I select a file or group of files after scrolling down in Nautilus, I
expect the vertical position to not be affected by my act of selecting.
4) Every time I select files, it resets vertical position to the top.

I apologize for the many comments today.
I observe something else than jammy-zhou: the bug is still there in
nautilus 3.8.2 from the gnome3 ppa! I can also confirm that the same
patch (on this site) fixes this for 3.8.2. It should really get fixed
upstream soon..

I just tried the patch attached to this bug. I can confirm that it
removes the white background on the second screen. However, it does not
fix the cursor. The cursor is still x, but I guess that is a separate
bug not related to nautilus.

could you please try to uninstall GIMP, then run sudo apt-get update &&
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade, and then reinstall GIMP.
Then run "apport-collect 1213462" in terminal. This will give us
additional information about your syste
