Raymond, I tried using hdajackreset as you suggested and I did get the
VT170BB 8-Ch Digital mapped to device 1 and the HDMI mapped to device 3.
However, I still was not able to get sound in that configuration. I ran
alsa-info.sh in that config and will attach the output.

Not to be pedantic, but while this is not very usual (especially for PS
code produced by vanilla applications), it is a lot easier for PS code
to be more adaptive. The CUPS test page is actually a good example of
this. PDF is generally completely constrained by the page dimensions.

I just wanted to add that I am experiencing the same issue but with an
external drive that I formatted ext4. There doesn't seem to be any
consistency to when it happens, sometimes after a few gb have copied and

I actually tracked it down to ModemManager initially having any modem
disabled (and NetworkManager just reflects this state, and can
manipulate it). `mmcli -e` enabled a modem and also causes the
NetworkManager to connect, which confirms this. So the right solution
would be to somehow persuade Mode
I performed a fresh install of 13.10 64-bit on my Dell E6520, and was
running into this freeze issue at the login screen or even shortly after
logging in. Eventually, a terminal like screen would appear with
nouveau error messages. Much like comment #46 above, I was able to do
