I have installed like this:
sudo apt-get remove libgdiplus
sudo dpkg -i /tmp/libgdiplus_2.10-3ubuntu1_amd64.deb
sudo apt-mark hold libgdiplus
sudo apt-get install openbve
RUN openbve
It seems to works!

As advised in README I set a customized shortcut light-locker-command -l that
overrides the default one (Super+L).
Super+L still triggers the other old locking system that shows the wallpaper
instead of light-dm picture.

Just as a note: light-locker isn't installed in Unity by default, so did you
manually install it?
Unity has a new lockscreen in 14.04, so could be that that one is creating a
conflict that breaks the keyboard shortcut.

The problem is still there, and the workaround is to create an empty
file first, then the menu entries for xscanimage will not be greyed out
anymore.
This is probably a UI fix, always reproducible. It has been open 7 years
now.

To my regret, a crash still occurs when I start openbve in Linux Mint
17. The libgdiplus version reported by synaptic is the one mentioned
above.

SAME. Just went to google and searched how to remove deja-dup-monitor
and ran sudo killall -9 deja-dup-monitor and then removed it with apt-
get remove. ran upgrade afterwards just in case.
Also using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Trusty

So it seems the Nvidia patch has some issue on some hardware. Funny, a
comment in the code from the patch says this should never happen. This
is where James Jones (the person who wrote the patch) would need to help
