I'm having the same problem using the nvidia-331.38-updates driver. I followed
your workaround on the BIOS, but the problems is still there.
I see a purple border around one of my screens, and then it's just blank with a
blinking cursor. I don't have encryption, so I just went straight into the
same issue here. Have not been able to pinpoint it. I have it on 1 machine, on
a few others there is not issue.
I tried reinstalling the ubuntu-desktop package, network-manager and
network-manager-gnome with no results.
This is on a fully updated 14.04.

Inspiron 1525 (without HDMI sound card) before I upgraded its Skype to

This was fixed in 3.14 release of NSS as shown at
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?list_id=4643675;resolution=FIXED;classification=Components;query_format=advanced;product=NSS;target_milestone=3.14
(see bug 636802). All currently supported Ubuntu releases are on 3.15+
so closing as this no

I am on Ubuntu 14.04 32 bit platform, I have Compiz 0.9.11.2. I enabled wobbly
windows effect, it works well except snatching effect. When a window is
fullscreen and if I pull it from its title bar and drag it towards center of
the screen, it won't split off properly

this software better. This particular crash has already been reported
and is a duplicate of bug #1257025, so is being marked as such.

To reproduce this bug, you can create multiple files (ex.: 30 text files, you
right-click and choose to open it with leafpad).
Each time I do this, and the same happens with jpg files and Shotwell viewer,
compiz crashes.

I think this happened when I tried to do security updates with aptitude.
It probably would not have happened had I done the other upgrades at the
same time. Is there some way the nvidia drivers can be listed as a
dependency for the kernel upgrade on systems that have the

creator/0.2.56.2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.
