Clickpads are a part of a wide range of professional Lenovo Thinkpad
machines. The touchpads/clickpads on these laptops do not work well with
the synaptics driver version 1.7.x. Since the 14.04 is an LTS version, I
do not plan to upgrade to 14.10. I imagine many users of the

I have Asus R510L with Nvidia GeForce 840M and the problem exists. I use Ubuntu
14.04 and Unity.
1) I cannot modify brightness using Fn keys.
2) I also cannot change brightness using System Settings - Brightness and
lock - Brightness slider

No 'unclutter' here on Lubuntu Utopic (beta; default). Had to install it

Point before folder name means that it is hidden folder. You can enable
hidden folders/files from nautilus preferences and/or pressing Ctrl+H.
If you can open folder then you should be able to launch programs too.
At least for writing LaTeX with emacs, I now applied the following way
out: I loaded the Italian key-board, and when I need ` in emacs, I
switch to that key-board where the symbol is available, then go back to
my usual key-board. It is ridiculous, but it works. The important Ctrl

This is a REGRESSION. This used to work fine. I don't know when exactly
it broke.
Steps to reproduce: Test 1 and Test 2 should both behave the same as
test 2, but test 1 gives nonsense and dangerous results.

No, I am using the built in mic on this computer. Also, it's not using
a Cirrus Logic sound chip, it's using all Intel. So, this patch you are
linking me to is not likely to work or will make things worse.

Touch in Utopic, which also has a ClickPad design as discussed at
http://www.synaptics.com/en/clickpad.php . Hence, it would appear to be
