1 is using VGA, 1 DVI, but now they are mirrored again.

Tim, do you have any idea what is going on here?
I never observed this problem on my machines and in the linked Debian
bug report the user suffers the problem until he uninstalls Adobe Reader
and the problem does not reoccur when he installed Adobe Reader again.

I am dying to see this implemented for all my desktop's windows.

This bug is pretty embarrassing for anyone trying to show parents or
friends how easy Ubuntu is to use.
Note: A workaround for the cannot burn any .iso files aspect of this
issue (which doesn't require installing extra software) is to use wodim
at the command line:
wodim foo.iso

I'm not clear on the version of ubuntu-drivers-common that I should test
it with. I'm currently up-to-date with 14.04, except for ubuntu-drivers-
common, which I've locked at 0.2.91.4. The latest available version is
0.2.91.7. Should I test the xserver-xorg-video-intel
2:2.99.910-0ubuntu1.2~ppa1
This bug should be fixed in Ubuntu 14.10 (Utopic, see LP bug #1354823),
could you test modem E3131 (12d1:15ca) on Ubuntu 14.10 or install
backported to Ubuntu 14.04 usb-modeswitch-2.2.0 from ppa:baltix/ppa

@Ivo: yes, please install the intel package, regardless of the version
of ubuntu-drivers-common that you have, as it's really a bug in the
intel driver.
