I did the Sudo gedit /etc/pm/config.d/config and added the line:
SUSPEND_MODULES="iwilwifi" but used my wireless driver card instead of
the "iwilwifi" to fix this issue. I am running Cinnamon in ubuntu 14.04
though. Hope you resolved your issue by now.
