Same on my XPS-13 9343 with i7-5500U and identical graphics card.
I tried xorg-edgers, but no improvement (xorg-video-intel is version 2.99.917
there), it shows the same behaviour.
Workaround with UXA is possible, but performance is abysmal, so no real
solution.

a Lubuntu 14.04 server with X2Go server there (and from a Ubuntu 14.04
with Unity and X2Go client, in case this matters). Things were working

I tested the ubuntu MATE 15.04 beta2 PowerPC live DVD in a virtual
QEMU/KVM machine. Xorg starts but unfortunately some colors are wrong on
the ubuntu MATE desktop. I can't use the mate-panel. If I click on the
panel (menu, icons etc) then nothing happens. The mate panel and the
mate taskbar
