so there really is an explicit setting in the upstream sources which
hardcodes this. With that, I guess I agree that emacs24 should

disables sophos anti-virus.
Is someone contacting sophos? Running without an active 'av' is a bad idea.

I see the exact behaviour on the Nexus 7 as Niklas describes in post no. 3. I'm
