I am guessing it is mostly on JS intensive sites (like facebook), and it
has happened a lot within the last 24 hours, although the firefox
package was updated 5 days ago.

This is a real blocker - so... Multi-Desktop environment (still
recommended?) puts interested peoples desktop in a unsecure state as it
blocks APT then.
If there is no other solution we will have to ask to remove Telepathy
from Kubuntu-meta or _not_ to recommend a mixed Desktop-Environment any

I have stopped the logs from filling up fast by purge resolvconf and
reinstalling it
# service network-manager stop
# dpkg --force-all --purge resolvconf
# apt-get install resolvconf

I ran hplip-3.15.11.run which analyses and compiles the libraries according to
