Comment #14 indeed shows you ran into a lot of trouble on 2018-06-15 and
tried a lot of things to fix the nvidia drivers. The only thing is that
the nvidia drivers have never changed at all since their release in
April:

Thanks! I won't claim to understand what that change did, but adding
the two lines as requested does seem to resolve the issue. I opened up
Netflix and was able to watch, without the crash, and there wasn't any
new entries in syslog.

Could not mount a video DVD unless the DVD had been inserted and then
the machine rebooted. At this point, the DVD is mounted and can be

I am using Bionic Beaver in a VirtualBox with 4 CPU threads and 4096
(later 6144) MB RAM out of my 2015 MacBook Pro's 8 CPU threads and 16 GB
RAM. When I start up, everything seems fine. With one single Terminal

does not help. Please only send constructive comments.

A computer is 50% useless without sound. You don't seem to be in hurry
to roll this back to end my misery. This is the second time this has
