jdk.net.URLClassPath.disableClassPathURLCheck to true, and verified that

Confirmed, the outline around the icon is almost invisible, making it
really hard to tell whether the option is checked.
This is with the generic VCL plugin. This can be observed on a stock
ubuntu desktop by running:
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen libreoffice --draw

I have the same problem on Linux Mint MATE 18.3 Sylvia (Ubuntu 16.04)
with LibreOffice 1:6.1.3~rc2-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 from PPA.

I've check this with Chipaca, there is no plan to change anything in
snapd wrt this bug on the following basis: (a) user can look at the
channel map to know what's in stable, and (b) store can change what's
returned outside the channel map, which snapd will forward on.
