I solved the problem for myself by commenting out the offending line
(212) from gcal-timeline.c and building and installing my own package. I
don't know whether this could count as a real solution, but one doesn't

So, I've questions about this bug if it comes from firefox, or mutter,
or wayland because every time I try use Firefox 88 the Wayland session
freezes and nothing else works besides Magic Key to restart my machine.

Same issue here after upgrading to 21.04. Never had any issues before. cam is
microsoft hd-3000

and switch back to default resolution (in my case 720) did the trick for me as

No, they should be on "ubuntu" and that is Wayland if wayland works and
Xorg if it doesn't.
The problem is that changing the setting doesn't appear to have any
effect at least from what I can see. For example look at the screenshot
attached here.

If you use intel mode, then GDM will default to Wayland, since no NVIDIA
driver is detected. Would you rather have users rely on X11 even in
intel mode?
