Hi Daniel, I upgraded to kernel version 5.15.25-051525-generic and I can say
things seem to be working.
Clam shell mode works.
Tested booting the laptop and then plugging in the HDMI and Hub. After closing
the lid it immediately switched to using the external monitor as default.

Hi Daniel, not a problem I will try a few kernels out.
Just to add I noticed over the weekend, when using the laptop on it own it
doesn't suspend anymore when closing the lid.
All related I'm guessing.

This also affects me but on ubuntu 20.04. Some how the HDMI output
switches randomly. For example sometimes i have HDMI-audio when i switch
the output to 5.1, sometimes i have to use stereo and somedays i need to
switch to 7.1. I own a xps 13 9380 which came preinstalled with ubuntu
18.04.
