Sorry, haven't had time to pursue this recently... A little more searching led

What I see appears completely similar. The syslog gets huge, filled with

deb, but the bug seems to have been fixed. So something in the chain of
Brave/Chrome, xdg-open, and Thunderbird seems to have removed the problem.

Now I have a related problem at work, where the external monitors were
not detected after plugging in the laptop in the docking station and
