Okay this is basically the only thing I can get now if I:
1. Change from Wayland to Xorg in the /etc/gdm/custom.conf and set wayland to
false.
2. Install nvidia drivers 53 or 525, including updating the kernel to 6.2.19
and confirming the kernel processed the nvidia drivers correctly.

I have the same issue with a fresh install of kubuntu 22.04 LTS on an HP
820 G1. Random screen blackout -- machine can only be revived by a
reboot. The Windows operating system that was replaced by kubuntu worked
flawlessly (except that it was Windows, which is one hell of a flaw).
