I have looked to the shared libraries cache and there is no trace (as
expected) of the library reported as missing libgvc.so.6 (this is a
symlink to libgvc.so.6.0.0 the actual lib).
$ ldconfig -p | grep libgvc
libgvc.so.5 (libc6,x86-64) = /usr/lib/libgvc.so.5

I was running emacs24 on Precise 12.04 after an install from this ppa @

Install worked fine. Until recently when installing new programs
(SuperCollider) which were byte compiling for emacs24.
For some mysterious reason at that
Nice. Canonical / Ubuntu has enough sway to impose the removal of libraries
which would break their MIR.
In theory the source files are copied in /usr/src/xorg-gtest and part of the
dev package.
In reality this code as such is un-usable.
So may be it is better to remove entirely all xorg
After some research I managed to get the connection (it looks like) :
$ sudo cp -r mc1650en_linux_ppd_v004/english usr/share/cups/model
$ sudo chmod -R 775 /usr/share/cups/model/english/
$ sudo service cups restart
1. Start up the Web browser.
2. Enter the URL “http://localhost:631”, and then

After a [Print Test Page] click I looked at the CUPS error log and the
only line related to the failed job launch was
$ tail -f /var/log/cups/error_log
E [11/Feb/2014:14:43:05 -0500] PID 7976 (/usr/lib/cups/backend/socket)
crashed on signal 6.

I did add a KONICA MINOLTA mc1650 laser printer through System

I then used the PPD file from the install DVD. I did configure the
printer IP address to be 192.168.1.51 then I checked through a ping that
the printer was accessible.
However when trying to print
Trouble is that these libraries have different names and are all
present. It should be to the applications to decide whatever library
they want to use and the system shoud not interfere in any way. Albeit
it looks like there is some weird interferences for some applications.
The new libpng
Well after posting the explanation of what I have done about libpng12
and libpng16 and reading from Chow Loong Jin (hyperair) that his

I tried to remove the symbolic link
Eveything is working fine in my system and I don't consider it broken.
My point of view is that Ubuntu is sticking with its system build to
antique version of libraries. I obviously don't know the full reason
why? This should in part comes from some developper / packager whom
chose to ignore the
Thank you for your quick answer. Yes I did not attach the MONO_LOG_LEVEL
log, here it is.
Well the Ubuntu Updates for Partial upgrade was not related to Banshee
but to a wine 1.6 rc1 and today rc2 which sports 2 same binaries

I have the exact same problem as another bug already reported bug which
has been marked as invalid.
I strongly disagree with the term Invalid.
When attempting to launch any version [even superseded ones] of banshee
