@Nucleo, I did the same thing with disabling secure boot, but I had to get lightdm working again with the base driver, and then I still had problems...
I used: sudo apt-get purge nvidia* But I remembered I had nvidia-352 installed before, but I removed it without purging it, so I reinstalled it then purged it (I bet there is a way to purge the config without reinstalling?), then I reinstalled nvidia-361 and it worked. I have no idea if the above is relevant, but I figured it's another thing to try if you're stuck.
