Whoops, sorry, just noticed that it was related to Padoka's PPA, might
be a few days old (I'm currently testing stuff to identify an issue with
Mesa). I assume it's an issue with the PPA, bug report can likely be
closed.

Public bug reported:
Got this error randomly after an upgrade (not sure if it was after
adding the Ubuntu-x-swat PPA or because of a previous upgrade of Mesa
from the Ubuntu repos). Looks like there's a package issue with two xorg
packages (ati and radeon) having a common config file.

Same for me with Ubuntu MATE 17.04 → 17.10 (final, not beta). The dialog
appeared multiple times and at the end of the process I got a message
saying that the upgrade failed. I tried to finalize it with sudo dpkg
--configure -a and sudo apt-get install, tried to force a reinstall of
this package (s
Just made another test: I installed Steam and Faeria on my old laptop
which has a nVidia GPU. I haven't installed the proprietary driver yet,
so I'm on Mesa with Nouveau. Faeria works. I haven't tried Payday 2, as
the required config is far too high for this PC.
Specs:
- desktop: Ubuntu MATE 17.04
After adding Oibaf's (Mesa devel 17.1.x) and/or Padoka's (Mesa stable
17.0.4) PPA, I still had to manually install libgles1-mesa (which they
package) to fix the issues in both games.

It does; in fact, the login screen is pretty much all black. So does
Payday 2 (loading/credits screens are black apart from the text) and
probably other games I haven't checked.

I've just upgraded Ubuntu from 16.10 to 17.04. Afterwards, I noticed graphical

Problem still happening for me in Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn. Worse:
while in Trusty I could avoid it by disabling the Google Calendar
integration, it seems that it now reactivates by itself.

Still present in Saucy (and probably Trusty too?).

I have the same problem since upgrade to 13.10, except that in my case
it happens randomly (so far, about once every two boots). Note thate the
problem isn't present on the login screen, only after starting Unity.
Haven't tried other DEs.
