I found the reason... I updated libcairo2 and libcairo-gobject2 packages and it resolved the issue.
However I found that this update has corrupted the xfonts-terminus in gvim. Does anyone has an idea how to correct this? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/920912 Title: gtk2 Expander Right Arrow Wrong Size Status in “gtk+2.0” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: In Natty (I think it was one if the updates, but I cannot figure the responsible) the right arrow of the expander in tree seem to be somehow cut at top and bottom, therefore it does not have the correct size. I realised now that it is not only in the expander, but whenever there is a right arrow, like the drop down menu. And this happens in all engines that I have tested. I am wondering if it is a package from the proposed archive, but I am not sure.
