To add to this, the zoom factor is doubled (halved?). That is, when the zoom is set to 100% it's actually displaying the image at 200% resolution. To see the image at it's correct size the zoom must be set to 50%. ** Attachment added: "Example of 50% zoom rendering at (actuall) 100% resolution"
