I have noticed this also. After testing it seems to be a race condition.
I can only reproduce it when headphones are unplugged (not plugged in).
Essentially what is happening is that the headphone port becomes
unavailable therefore the backend goes to remove that output which

copy the .so to /usr/lib/control-center-1/panels/.
just in case you are unfamiliar, go to the terminal, go the directory
where you downloaded the .so and type
sudo cp libsoundnua.so /usr/lib/control-center-1/panels/
It was the quotes in the gep, please use this gep instead. Silly me.

thanks for that, could you also provide the debug trace from running the
control center.
Open a terminal and run gnome-control-center soundnua'. Then from the
control centre recreate the bug and copy and paste the trace on the
terminal to a comment here.

David and I have discussed this, here are the findings :
The bug arises from an issue with pulse whereby the supported profile
list of a given device changes at runtime so for example (and also
specific to this case for this bug) a device which supported a surround
profile at startup for some reas
What I'm curious is about on step 5, did the UI move back automatically
to HDMI or did you need to do it manually.

This seems like a pulse problem considering the exception is thrown down there
when I attempt a profile change.
