I never had this problem, but with an upgrade to 13.04 a similar bug has occurred.
When leeting banshee play through songs, it correctly increments the play count at the end of the track. However if you manually select a track to play, it instantly increments the play count, and then does so again at the end of the track, so any track you specifically ask to play, ask it's play count incremented by 2 instead of 1 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to banshee in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/697269 Title: play count increments instantly when manually clicking on a song Status in Banshee Music Player: Confirmed Status in “banshee” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Binary package hint: banshee Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Kernel Linux 2.6.35-24-generic banshee: Installed: 1.8.0-2ubuntu1~maverick2 Candidate: 1.8.0-2ubuntu1~maverick2 Version table: *** 1.8.0-2ubuntu1~maverick2 0 500 http://at.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick-updates/universe i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1.7.6-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://at.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/universe i386 Packages Normally it should just increment when the song finished playing.
