16.10, I'll reply as I tested this out:
Connecteted to USB, then scanimage -L: segmentation error
Then I removed the network scanner by brsaneconfig -r scanner. Again, a
segmentation error.
Then I added the UDEV
This seems to be a general problem with ModemManager. I have a
completely different modem (Huawei E392) and it fails in the same way.
Furthermore, the workaround steps described in the report itself do also
work for me.

I suffered from the fglrx SRU in 12.04 too. Being forced to fix the
problem I tried the saucy enablement stack
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack). In order for radeon
to work properly, fglrx has to be uninstalled. I had to blacklist the
vesafb driver, otherwise I'd get a GPU lockup

Remove the line that I marked (line 20) , to fix it
This is an example of my NetworkManager profile.
This file is saved under /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/
with connecting to the wireless point at my college. (www.bg.bib.de)

Sry, I just want to note that removing "system-ca-certs=true" from
/etc/NetworkManager/system-connections solved the problem for me!

My college, the b.i.b International College Bergisch Gladbach
(www.bg.bib.de) is affected!
In 12.04 it worked perfectly!

This bug is definitely not fixed for me on a bog standard 12.04.1
