I Actually resolved this.
Seemes that an old installation had blacklisted nvidia-updates module from
loading.
After removing the blacklist from /etc/modprobe.d the nvidia driver
started working again.
The installer of the package should check if there exists an blacklist
of the module when ins

Submitted new bug report with system booted up.

I'm trying to get nvidia-properitary drivers to work on my Lenovo w520.
After successfully installing the drivers I do a reboot. x-server then loads
with what seems to be a failsafe mode.
Nvidia-settings reports that I don't appear to be running an nvidia driver, and

System fails to boot after activating nvidia driver

Currently running with nouveau driver.
After activating nvidia-current driver trough additional drivers I did a
reboot. The system then fails to load the graphical driver, and freezes
completly. I'm not able to get into a shell or anything. The system
